Zoom Binoculars
Have you
ever been somewhere like a sporting event perhaps and
wished you had a pair of binoculars to better see the
event? Well maybe the zoom binoculars would be the kind
for you.
Zoom
binoculars are similar to standard binoculars in that
they allow for magnification of objects that are at a
distance. However, the zoom feature lets you magnify in
varying degrees of range.
A standard
set of binoculars may give you a magnification range of 8
and that would be all you would have available. A pair of
zoom binoculars would give you a choice of a range set at
say 7 to 15 or maybe 10 to 20.
Think about
how a microscope works, just as the dial on a microscope
can be turned to allow for greater or lesser degrees of
magnification so do the zoom
binoculars.
The change
in degrees of magnification is controlled by a lever that
adjusts the lenses in the binoculars. Each side is
controlled independently of the other, which can lead to
less than perfect visual sightings.
The degrees
the two lenses may differ from each other may be small,
but it could also lead to visual discrepancies. Having
the lens magnifications controlled independently can also
cause issues in regards to how the lens is
aligned.
The degree
to which a lens can shift, distort or become misaligned
with the other could cause some annoying visual problems.
In operating the zoom levers you can’t help but notice
how the lenses begin to vary with each other in degrees
of magnification.
Anytime you
have a sensitive instrument with movable parts you are
subject to encountering miscalculations. What if you
accidently bump one side and the levered setting
changes?
Now you
have to spend time realigning it with the other lens
again in order to have a consistent visual image. With
the standard type of binocular you get a fixed field of
vision which is actually larger than the field of vision
you would have with the zoom
binoculars.
Even with
the enhanced magnification, the overall image area will
be smaller. If you have a particular need to be able to
see very small objects at close range then the zoom
binoculars may be the better way for you to
go.
However, if
you are looking for a good pair of binoculars to be able
to enjoy your favorite sporting event or even for
hunting, then the standard binoculars would be a better
fit for what you need.
They can
give you a clear, sharp close-up image without needing to
be readjusted at any point. Whatever your need is for a
good pair of binoculars it’s always best to shop around
and look at both types for
comparison.
